Alan (Edgar) Canales

Undergraduate Researcher

Alan is a dedicated chemistry major at Texas A&M International University, where he is pursuing two minors in applied physics and music performance on a full scholarship. He is on track to graduate with honors in May 2026. He has developed strong experience in organic synthesis, chemical reactions, NMR spectroscopy, chromatography, and other analytical techniques. He currently works as a tutor at TAMIU’s tutoring center, where he supports students in organic, general, and physical chemistry, as well as physics (mechanics and electromagnetism) and music theory.

As an active member of the TAMIU Honors Program, Alan has contributed to research projects focused on the isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites from South Texas plants using analytical chemistry methods. His long-term goal is to attend medical school in the United States and specialize in plastic surgery.
