Diego Alonso Morteo is an Undergraduate Student at Texas A&M International University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology with a strong interest in coffee and sciences, and how these two could correlate in industry and human health. His academic interest centers on gut microbiome modulation, including ongoing research on targeted therapy via colonic delivery of bacteria such as Lawsonibacter asacharoliticus. Looking ahead, Diego plans to pursue a career in treatment development, while also exploring professional certifications in agriculture and food science technology. Outside of the academics, he is a specialty coffee enthusiast who enjoys experimenting with roasting chemistry, rare coffee species, and precise brewing techniques. To maintain a healthy work-life balance, he prioritizes his physical fitness by regularly going to the gym and enjoys listening to a diverse range of music in his free time.
